Our History

Advanced Prosthetics is a dedicated provider of prosthetic and orthotic services with a mission to enhance the mobility and quality of life for patients. From humble beginnings, the company has grown to multiple locations. Here is the story of the Peter's family and how our company was founded.

Serving the Prosthetic and Orthotic Community for More Than 20 Years!

For more than 20 years, Advanced Prosthetics has been dedicated to helping patients live with greater comfort, mobility, and independence. What started as a small office in Easley, South Carolina, has grown into multiple locations across the Carolinas, allowing us to serve even more patients with the same personalized, compassionate care. Along the way, we’ve built strong relationships with hospitals, rehab centers, and local providers who trust us to be part of their patients’ journeys. Today, while Advanced Prosthetics is under new ownership, Miriam continues to play an active role in the practice, ensuring the values of care and commitment that started it all remain at the heart of everything we do.

Out of Tragedy Transforms Purpose

Phillip Peters was an active young fifteen year old looking forward to playing football for his high school team. After joining the program, Phillip unfortunately suffered an ACL injury right leg. In a tragic oversight, the cast applied to his leg was too tight cutting off the circulation. By the time the cast was removed, it was too late and Phillip was informed they would need to amputate his leg.

Determined to live life without limitations, Phillip found a new dedication in his life to learning about prosthetic and orthotic care, aiming to improve the lives of individuals who, like him, had faced the loss of a limb. His goal was simple: to help patients be as active as possible and to enhance their overall quality of life. In 1998, Mr. Peters founded Advanced Prosthetics looking to help others facing similar challenges. Our company slogan was hence born: Amputees Serving Amputees. Phillip enlisted the help of his wife, Miriam Peters, who had O&P experience at Shriners Childrens Hospital to help run the company. She quickly became the acting CEO and has a passion for quality patient care and promoting the company's mission and vision.

What Sets Us Apart

Besides our personalized patient care, one of the unique strengths of Advanced Prosthetics is our dedicated team. Many of our clinicians are not only certified professionals but also amputees themselves, giving them a deep understanding of what patients are going through. They continue their education to stay current with the latest advancements in prosthetic and orthotic technology, ensuring every patient receives the best possible care. With locations across North and South Carolina, we’re committed to providing both expertise and compassion—so patients feel supported, understood, and confident every step of the way.

Advanced Prosthetics is now a part of the Mobility Ideal Health Group of Companies, which has locations in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Colorado.
