Cheryl Ingle

Hello, I am the grandmother of 5 children and 56 years old.  I love every minute of being their Nana. Over the years, I have been through many things.  Four years ago, I had a blockage in my legs which caused poor circulation.  This caused me to have both of my legs amputated which would forever change my life.  As a firm believer, I knew God was going to take care of me.  My faith would be challenged and there were difficult times.  One of the hardest parts was figuring out the right steps to take after having an amputation.

My doctor in Spartanburg recommended a prosthetic company for me to contact.  When you have an amputation, everything happens so fast.  It can be hard to know what choices to make since you have never had to place yourself in that situation.  As a result, you find yourself guided by individuals around you instead of taking the time to learn about choices around you.  It can also be difficult to gauge what a good prosthetic company looks like since it is a first time experience.  I stayed with the company my doctor recommended for a year not realizing I had the choice for a different provider.  Sometimes, you have to just live and learn!  Advanced Prosthetics was recommended to me after I expressed all the trouble I was having with my current prosthetic company.

When I had my first appointment with Advanced Prosthetics, I was introduced to a prosthetist named Jim.  He told me that he would do everything in his power to get me walking again.  Boy, he sure did!  I believe God puts special people in your path for a reason.  My life would be tremendously different without Mr. Jim in the Spartanburg office.  Life can be difficult being an amputee.  Sometimes, I would think about what my life was like before my amputations.  There was even a time that I began to lose hope and stopped trying all together.  However, I had to rely on my faith and realize I had good people around me.  Jim was one of those people.  He never made me feel bad about myself and always encouraged me.  He kept my spirits high and told me to keep trying.  My efforts paid off and I began to walk again.  Recently, I received the new bionic knee and two feet.  I love them!!!  It feels like I’m on cloud nine!

I know, without a doubt, I would not be where I am today without Mr. Jim.  He is such a hard worker and has tried constantly to keep my legs comfortable.  I now realize that several things go into being a successful amputee.  Not only does the patient have to work hard, but also such a large part comes from who makes your legs. God was also an important role in my life.  I wrote this testimonial because we are often quick to complain when something is wrong; however, we forget to give praise when someone goes above and beyond the calling.  Jim, I hope you know how much I appreciate you.  I can spend time with my grandchildren and take my life back.  If there is someone special in your life, make sure to let them know. Hopefully, this will help someone else!  Thank You!
