Malcolm Owen

Technician

Bio

Malcolm Owen has been part of Advanced Prosthetics for more than 10 years, working across our Greenville, Anderson, and Easley offices. With a career in healthcare spanning over 40 years, Malcolm first entered the field in 1980 at the renowned Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, London, while working for J.E. Hangers. His decades of hands-on experience and craftsmanship continue to make him an invaluable part of our team as he looks toward a well-deserved retirement in 2026.

As a technician, Malcolm specializes in the fabrication of a wide variety of orthotic and prosthetic devices — from AFOs, KAFOs, and Carolina Boots, to hip-disarticulation limbs, laminated sockets, and advanced microprocessor knees. At our Greenville workshop, Malcolm and the team take pride in handling every case in-house, ensuring each device is carefully crafted to meet the unique needs of every patient.

For Malcolm, the best part of his work is the people — the supportive, close-knit teams he’s been part of, and the patients whose lives are changed by the devices he helps create. Guided by the words of the Desiderata“Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and remember what peace there is in silence” — Malcolm approaches his work with humility, patience, and quiet dedication.

Outside of the workshop, Malcolm enjoys exploring the winding mountain roads of the Blue Ridge Parkway, whether on a motorcycle or in his sports car. He also cycles, travels to the coast, and treasures the lifestyle that brought him to the Greenville area.

Fun fact: Born and raised in London, England, Malcolm is married to a proud “Scottish-American,” and together they’ve embraced life in the Carolinas.
