What Are Cranial Orthotics?
Cranial orthotics, commonly known as cranial helmets or bands, are custom-molded devices designed to gently reshape a baby's skull. They are primarily used to treat non-synostotic positional head shape deformities, which occur when an infant's skull becomes flattened due to prolonged pressure on one side of the head. These deformities can lead to visible asymmetry in the skull and face.

Conditions Treated
- Positional Plagiocephaly
Characterized by flattening on one side of the back of the head, often accompanied by forward displacement of the ear and forehead on the same side. - Brachycephaly
A condition where the back of the head becomes flattened, causing the head to widen and shorten. - Scaphocephaly
An elongated head shape resulting from premature closure of the sagittal suture.
